JP van Pijkeren is Assistant Professor at UW-Madison. His lab is developing genetic tools to build tailored probiotics – bacterial strains that can deliver antibiotics and immuno-therapies. It’s pretty amazing work at the forefront of microbial health research.
We built a new website and logo for JP’s group, working with the University of Wisconsin WordPress theme and hosting environment. This has certain benefits for clients wanting to leverage the expertise, support and reputation of their host institution – a trade-off that I’ve written about before in this blog.
For this job, JP chose to involve local Madison photographer Tim Fitch. Tim uses rich colours, stark tones and contemporary compositions to iconically capture emotion, typically working at weddings and with families. He stepped outside his zone to work in JPs lab, but bought his self-described ‘raw, bold and real’ approach to bear.
